Join the Future Palace Programme at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre
Future Palace is an ambitious youth-led design and placemaking programme at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Developed by Beyond the Box CIC in partnership with the Morgan Sindall for the Mayor of London, the project places young Londoners at the centre of decision-making for one of the capital’s most iconic sports venues.
Through workshops, mentoring, and hands-on design projects, over 20 young people will help shape the future of Crystal Palace National Sports Centre — ensuring it is inclusive, sustainable, and inspiring for generations to come.
We’re now inviting applications for two paid opportunities:
Youth Design Advisor
Commitment: 16 hours total across four sessions (October–December 2025)
Pay: £13.85 per hour (London Living Wage)
Who: Young people aged 16–25 (applicants must live in Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark).
We’re creating a Youth Design Advisory Board to ensure authentic youth and community voices are embedded in the early design and consultation phases of Crystal Palace National Sports Centre’s redevelopment.
As a Youth Design Advisor, you’ll:
Join four facilitated sessions led by Beyond the Box.
Explore key design questions and give feedback on development plans ahead of planning submission.
Work alongside architects and designers to ensure young people’s perspectives shape decisions
Receive full onboarding, training, and support.
We’ll cover travel expenses and access needs so everyone can take part. Your time and insights will be fully recognised — all participants will be paid the London Living Wage.
Design Innovator
Commitment: 40 hours total (over several weeks)
Pay: £13.85 per hour (London Living Wage)
Who: Young people aged 16–25. (Applicants must live in Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark).
We’re recruiting 10 Design Innovators to help reimagine and activate spaces at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre through creative prototyping and hands-on design.
This role includes:
Workshops on sustainable construction, environmental design, regenerative placemaking, and climate justice.
Learning from sustainability experts within MSC’s partner network.
Career talks, site visits, and exploration of pathways into green jobs.
Mentorship from professional designers and architects.
Developing and delivering mini design briefs to reimagine spaces such as Jubilee Square.
Possible focus areas include:
Seating zones and social spaces
Cultural and sport-inspired installations
Signage and wayfinding with environmental messaging
Enhancements to the public realm
Your design concepts and prototypes will be showcased publicly, with continued mentoring available beyond the programme.
