Convent Way Estate: Co-Designing Regeneration in Hounslow

This film documents Beyond the Box’s community engagement and social value programme supporting the regeneration of Convent Way Estate in Hounslow. Commissioned by Hounslow Council and delivered in collaboration with Bell Phillips Architects and landscape designers Gillespies, the project embedded co-design principles throughout the early design stages.

Monthly workshops and engagement events created space for residents to respond to emerging proposals for the estate masterplan, ensuring the ideas and experiences of people living on the estate helped shape the design process.

Alongside this, the programme integrated social value outcomes including paid roles for local residents to support the engagement programme and youth-focused design initiatives. Through exhibitions, a Green Festival and creative workshops, the project connected local voices with architectural and planning processes, demonstrating how regeneration can be shaped through meaningful community participation.
