Future Palace Programme: Youth Design Advisors at Crystal Palace

This film highlights the work of young Design Advisors participating in the Future Palace Programme connected to the redevelopment of Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Working with Beyond the Box and project partners, the advisors explored how principles of equity, accessibility and inclusion could inform the future design of the site.

Through training sessions, design workshops and collaborative discussions, the group examined the difference between equality and equity and considered how public sports facilities can better serve diverse communities. Their role was to observe, question and contribute insights that could influence design thinking within the wider redevelopment team.

The programme demonstrates how youth-led perspectives can enrich the design process, ensuring the future of major civic spaces reflects the needs and experiences of the communities they serve.
