Expressions of Resilience: Reclaiming Creative Space in East London
This film tells the story of Expressions of Resilience, a grassroots exhibition and cultural programme created to reclaim physical space for creativity, community and collaboration in East London.
The project began with a design competition inviting young creatives to reimagine BUILDHOLLYWOOD’s space at 1 Quaker Street using recycled materials sourced from film and television sets. The winning designs by emerging designers were brought to life as part of an immersive exhibition that transformed the venue into a vibrant hub of art, performance and storytelling.
Alongside the installations, a cultural programme curated by young creative producers showcased film, music, dance and live performance from emerging artists across London. Together the exhibition celebrated resilience, identity and creative expression while demonstrating how grassroots cultural initiatives can create new platforms for young voices.
